HDB Green Towns Programme
The HDB Green Towns Programme is a 10-year plan to make HDB towns more sustainable and liveable by 2030.
HDB Green Towns Programme
Since 2005, we have been driving sustainability efforts to achieve a 10% reduction in annual energy consumption in HDB towns. Through the HDB Green Towns Programme, HDB aims to reduce it by a further 15% by 2030. Some of the key initiatives include:
- Reducing energy consumption with solar panels and smart LED lighting.
- Piloting a water harvesting system to recycle rainwater and mitigate flood risks. Rainwater
collected can be used for washing of the void decks and watering of plants. - Piloting new ways to cool our HDB towns, such as through the use of cool paint which can
reduce the ambient temperature by up to 2 degrees. - Injecting rooftop greenery, community farming and urban farms at more multi-storey carparks.
This increases green cover and provides more green spaces for residents to enjoy.
HDB will continue to push the frontiers of sustainability and work with Town Councils to ensure that our
towns remain highly liveable and sustainable.
