Written Answer by Ministry of National Development on singles’ application for 2-room Flexi flats

Mr Gan Thiam Poh: To ask the Minister for National Development whether he can provide a breakdown of the number of singles who have successfully applied for 2-room flexi flats since they were launched, by
i. gender; and
ii. income bracket, specifically those with a monthly income of $1,000 and less, and between $1,001 and $6,000 in multiples of $1,000.
Answer:
2-room Flexi flats were first offered for sale in November 2015. From 1 Nov 2015 to 31 Dec 2018, a total of 18,572 singles had applied and were invited to select a 2-room Flexi flat under HDB’s Build-To-Order (BTO) and Sale of Balance Flats (SBF) exercises . A breakdown of this figure by gender and income is provided in Table 1 below.
