Question No: 6130

Question by: Mr Desmond Choo

To ask the Minister for National Development whether the Ministry will consider according priority to senior residents relocating to new short-lease 2-room HDB Flexi flats or Community Care Apartments near to their current homes to promote successful and seamless aging within the community.

Answer:

Today, HDB sets aside at least 40% of its public supply of 2-room Flexi flats for eligible seniors. With the new Build-To-Order flat classification framework from October 2024, half of this supply in Standard and Plus projects, and a quarter in Prime projects, will be set aside under the Senior Priority Scheme for those who wish to live near their current home, or live with or near their parent or married child.

Seniors aged 65 and above can also purchase a Community Care Apartment (CCA), which integrates senior-friendly housing with care services. Access to CCAs is therefore prioritised for households with at least one applicant or essential occupier with care needs, regardless of the location of their current home. If the model of care provision proves to be effective and scalable, we will continue to build more CCAs across Singapore. This will enable more seniors to age well within their communities.
