Oral Answer by Ministry of National Development on take-up rate of 2-room HDB flexi flats

Mr Gan Thiam Poh: To ask the Minister for National Development (a) what is the take-up rate for 2-room HDB flexi flats for the first half of 2020, especially for retirees and singles; and (b) whether the Ministry will consider building more of such flats to meet the demand.

Answer:

HDB launched about 1,000 2-room Flexi flats in the first half of 2020, with another 1,800 units launched in the Aug 2020 Build-To-Order exercise. Of the 2-room Flexi flats launched in the first half of this year, about 80% have been booked, of which more than 90% were booked by seniors and singles. 

HDB will continue to monitor the housing market closely and ensure that our flat supply remains responsive to the housing needs of the population.
