Oral Answer by Ministry of National Development on Estate Upgrading Programme

Nov 9, 2016

Ms Sylvia Lim: To ask the Minister for National Development

(a) what is the Government's estimated budget for the Estate Upgrading Programme (EUP) for private estates for the next three years; and

(b) what is the schedule for calling for EUP nominations each year.

Answer:

Since the Estate Upgrading Programme (EUP) was launched in 2000, MND has committed about $187 million to upgrade 63 private estates through nine batches of EUP. The average budget for each project is about $20 million.

The pace of the programme will depend on the resources that are currently available. We also have to coordinate with other government agencies, in terms of planning and upgrading works, to minimise inconvenience to the residents and to the public. MND will invite nominations for future projects once we have a timeline for implementation.
