Minister Desmond Lee official trip to Jakarta for G20 Research and Innovation Ministers' Meeting

MINISTER FOR NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT MR DESMOND LEE TO REPRESENT SINGAPORE AT THE 2022 G20 RESEARCH AND INNOVATION MINISTERS' MEETING IN JAKARTA FROM 27 - 28 OCT 2022

Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, Mr Desmond Lee, will be representing Singapore at the 2022 G20 Research and Innovation Ministers' Meeting (RIMM) in Jakarta, Indonesia on 28 Oct.

The theme of the 2022 G20 RIMM is "Green and Blue Economy" and will focus on research and innovation collaboration to support global biodiversity research and sustainable use of biodiversity for the green and blue economy. Singapore has been invited to attend the RIMM as a guest nation.

The RIMM will aim for G20 countries to endorse and adopt the finalised declaration on research and innovation collaboration. During the meeting, Minister Lee will highlight the importance of biodiversity conversation and its role in sustainable city development. He will also discuss Singapore's approach to biodiversity issues and how promoting collaborations amongst stakeholders both domestically and internationally is key in supporting biodiversity conservation efforts.

While in Jakarta, Minister Lee will also meet with international counterparts to reaffirm ties and explore opportunities for collaboration. He will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of National Development and National Parks Board (NParks).
