Dr Koh Poh Koon Leads Farming Industry on Study Visit to Norway

Dr Koh Poh Koon, Senior Minister of State for National Development, and Trade and Industry is visiting Trondheim, Norway from 15 to 19 August 2017.


Dr Koh will visit AquaNor, a biennial international aquaculture exhibition to learn about various aquaculture technologies and methods such as deep sea farming. Dr Koh will also visit one of Norway’s largest Atlantic Salmon producing farms, the Lerøy Seafood Group, to understand the latest technology being employed in fish farming. He will also meet representatives of government agencies to discuss policies that support the aquaculture industry.


Dr Koh said, “Aquaculture is poised to play an increasingly crucial role in Singapore’s food security. I hope that this trip will help our fish farmers familiarise themselves with the latest technologies in fish farming, as well as with the various methods such as deep-sea farming. With innovation and technology, our fish farms will be able to develop their capabilities to become more productive and resilient, thus playing a more significant role in Singapore’s food security”.

 

Dr Koh is accompanied by officials from the Ministry of National Development, the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority and other government representatives, as well as industry representatives.
