To ask the Minister for National Development whether the measures recently announced to facilitate home ownership for first-timers who are married with or without children can be rolled out sooner to take effect from the May 2023 BTO application.

Answer:

At MND’s Committee of Supply debate on 2 March 2023, MND announced enhanced support for eligible first-timer families with children aged 18 and below and young married couples aged 40 and below to secure a new flat.  

2        The moves will take effect from the August 2023 BTO exercise. They were announced early to give the public some time to understand how the changes may affect them. HDB also needs some time to stress-test and implement the system changes needed for the moves.
