Written Answer by Ministry of National Development on number of households under Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme

Mr Png Eng Huat: To ask the Minister for National Development:
(a) what is the number of families and couples who are renting under the Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme currently; and 
(b) what is the number and percentage of this group who are in arrears.

Answer:

There are about 630 households currently renting under the Parenthood Provisional Housing Scheme, or PPHS, as at end Jan 2020.  Among these households, about 7% of them are in arrears.

For PPHS households in arrears, HDB will work with them on an instalment plan to repay their arrears, or to move to a flat with lower rent, according to their budget.  Those in financial hardship can also be referred to MSF’s Social Service Office for financial assistance.
