Ms Jessica Tan Soon Neo: To ask the Minister for National Development in 2019 and 2020 to date, what is the maximum and median number of application attempts for first-time applicants before they are successful in being invited to select a HDB flat.

Answer:

In both 2019 and 1H2020, more than half of the first timer families were successful at their first attempt in a Build-To-Order or Sale of Balance Flats exercise. The highest number of consecutive unsuccessful attempts before a successful attempt in 2019 and 1H2020 were 14 and 10 respectively. In these cases, the applicants had applied mostly for new flats in the mature estates.
