Transfer of Management of Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre from HDB to AVA

Jul 27, 2017

The Pasir Panjang Wholesale Centre (PPWC), currently under the management of the Housing & Development Board (HDB), will be transferred to the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (AVA) in the first quarter of 2018.

PPWC is Singapore’s main wholesale and distribution point for imported fruits and vegetables, as well as dried goods. The 15.4-hectare centre comprises 26 blocks, housing about 1,240 units as at June 2017. This includes 595 shops and stalls, 314 cold rooms, and 300 pitches. Approximately 40% of Singapore’s total fruits and vegetable imports pass through PPWC.

The transfer of management is an alignment of the agencies’ functions, as AVA is the agency responsible for food supply resilience.

There will be minimal impact on the 1,240 tenants and licensees. All key terms and conditions of the tenancy or license agreements, prevailing as at the transfer date, will remain unchanged.

Tenants and licensees of PPWC can continue to approach the on-site Managing Agent for assistance on matters relating to their day-to-day operations. For enquiries on matters relating to the transfer, they can call HDB at 1800-866-3077, or email ipgmail@mailbox.hdb.gov.sg.
