Oral Answer by Ministry of National Development on childless Singaporeans married to foreign spouses applying for 2-room BTO flats

Mr Gan Thiam Poh: To ask the Minister for National Development whether priority can be given to Singaporeans who are married to foreign spouses and are childless to apply for 2-room BTO HDB flats.
Answer:
When assigning priority, HDB takes into account the housing needs of the buyers and the prevailing demand and supply situation. The low application rates for families for 2-room BTO flats have allowed us to do more for singles. We are now able to set aside half of the 2R BTO flat supply in non-mature estates for singles.
Singaporeans with foreign spouses and without child are treated no differently from singles.
