Minister Desmond Lee to attend the inaugural MND-MHURD Leadership Dialogue and the Opening of the 7th World Intelligence Congress in China

May 14, 2023

Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for National Development and Minister-in-charge of Social Services Integration, will be travelling to China as part of DPM Lawrence Wong’s delegation. During the trip, Minister Desmond Lee will accompany DPM Lawrence Wong for official engagements in Beijing.

While in Beijing, Minister Lee will attend the inaugural Ministerial-Level Leadership Dialogue between the Ministry of National Development (MND) and China’s Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MHURD), where he will meet China’s Minister for Housing and Urban-Rural Development, Mr Ni Hong. At the Dialogue, experts from Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and MHURD will share the respective countries’ experience on green and low-carbon buildings, an issue of common interest to both countries.

Minister Lee will represent Singapore as the Country-of-Honour at the 7th World Intelligence Congress (WIC) in Tianjin, themed “Intelligence: Extensive Development Space, Sustainable Growth Driver”. He will deliver a keynote speech at the Opening Ceremony on 18 May 2023.

During his visit in Tianjin, Minister Lee will meet with Tianjin’s Party Secretary Mr Chen Min’er and Mayor Mr Zhang Gong, to discuss ways to strengthen collaborations between Singapore and Tianjin. This is especially significant as the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-City celebrates its 15th anniversary this year.

Minister Desmond Lee will be accompanied by officials from MND during his trip to China.
