Changes to Ministers-in-charge of Singapore-China Government-to-Government projects and Co-Chairmen of Business Councils

Enterprise Singapore, the Ministry of National Development and the Ministry of Trade and Industry announced several changes to the Ministers-in-charge of Singapore-China Government-to-Government projects and Co-Chairmen of Provincial Business Councils today. 

Following Mr Heng Swee Keat’s appointment as Deputy Prime Minister on 1 May 2019, he will succeed Mr Teo Chee Hean, Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security, as the Co-Chair for the Joint Council for Bilateral Cooperation (JCBC). Mr Heng will relinquish his appointments as Co-Chairman for the Singapore-Jiangsu Cooperation Council and the Singapore-Shanghai Comprehensive Cooperation Council. 

Arising from the above, the following Provincial Business Councils will see changes to their Co-Chairmen:

a. Singapore-Shanghai Comprehensive Cooperation Council (SSCCC): Mr Lawrence Wong, Minister for National Development and Second Minister for Finance, succeeds Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat as Co-Chairman; 

b. Singapore-Jiangsu Cooperation Council (SJCC): Ms Indranee Rajah, Minister in Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister for Finance and Education, succeeds Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat as Co-Chairman; and

c. Singapore-Tianjin Economic and Trade Council (STETC): Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Social and Family Development and Second Minister for National Development, succeeds Minister Lawrence Wong as Co-Chairman.  

The following Government-to-Government projects will also see changes to their Ministers-in-charge: 

a. Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city: Minister Desmond Lee succeeds Minister Lawrence Wong as the Minister-in-charge of Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city; and 

b. China-Singapore (Chongqing) Demonstration Initiative on Strategic Connectivity (CCI): Mrs Josephine Teo, Minister for Manpower and Second Minister for Home Affairs, succeeds Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry, as the Minister-in-charge of CCI.

Annex
