Punggol residents and visitors alike can now rediscover Punggol’s rich history and unique features at the new Punggol Discovery Cube — the first visitor centre of its kind to be built in a HDB town!
Overlooking the scenic My Waterway@Punggol, the Discovery Cube chronicles the transformation of Punggol Town from a sleepy fishing village into the waterfront town we see today. The three-storey centre also showcases HDB’s approach towards developing green and sustainable towns.
Highlights of the Discovery Cube include an interactive model of Punggol which simulates a bird’s-eye view of the whole town, and a 5.8-metre long infographic wall showcasing significant milestones in Punggol’s development and future plans for the town.
The Discovery Cube is nestled in the heart of Punggol Town at the Punggol Town Square. This new-generation town plaza provides a focal point for residents to come together and participate in activities as a community.
Officially opened by Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean on 15 January this year, the Punggol Town Square is integrated with transport facilities such as the Punggol MRT Station, with shopping, dining and other facilities at Waterway Point nearby.
Punggol residents can look forward to activities and events such as mass exercises, mini concerts, and movie screenings to be held at the town square throughout the year. These activities are organised by a multi-agency Activation Team led by HDB — based on residents’ feedback — to kick-start community participation.
The Punggol Discovery Cube is open every day, except Mondays, from 10.00 am to 8.00 pm.
